Your Beloved Childhood Toys

If you have ever taken the time, you will have noticed that there are a large number of people who still love to talk about the toys that they had when they were only a few feet high. For the girls for example many of them still haven’t even let go of the dolls that they got when they were less than ten years old. It is still common to find them holding on to their Barbies , their Sindys or their precious tiny tears.

For the boys, they always went for the other type of doll. The action man dolls. A lot of guys agree on this one that they should be called action figures and not dolls as dolls are just too lady like and they are not.

One toy that ranks high in most of the children’s lists is the Lego. When it comes to construction toys, the Lego has surpassed all the others by far and left them in the dust. Both the young children and adults have this toy as a favorite. With the new models that are always coming out like the star wars themed Lego, this toy has proven to be quite a collectible.

Not everybody had a chemistry set or an electronic kit but this does not mean that they were not popular. Guys loved to build crystal radios with their electronic kits and were always prodding away at the circuits and wearings. For the parents the chemistry set brought them nothing but headaches with the mess it would leave behind.

The Bunsen burners and the included chemicals always grabbed the attention of a child for hours. They had crystal growing sets and they could even do some chromatography with their kits. They were always a great way to inspire your children to value science.

For the bookworms, a toy that they always had to have was their favorite book whether fiction or non fiction. They would grow up to lifelong book collectors if they love for books were nurtured well with gifts like trips to the library and book tokens.

One toy that seems to have gotten the attention of both sexes was the toy car. Tonka was the biggest one in those days and others had the tiny dinkies. If you were lucky you even got a whole play set or play mat representing different neighborhoods or cities that you could drive through.

The good thing about most of the toys that were our favorites back in the day is that some of them can still be purchased even today. So, when you go out next time to pick out a gift for a child, remember how important your toys were to you and make it a memorable one for them.
